Encounter held at unusual venue

This year, Grade 11s made history as Encounter 2008, themed ‘Treasure Island’ was held on one of South Africa’s most important historical landmarks, Robben Island.

Over a period of five days, the pupils delved into many aspects of their lives. They studied their connection to South Africa and Israel, as well as their Jewish roots. They  also had time to enjoy free time with friends, explore the beautiful island, challenge each other in sports tournaments and create amazing arts and crafts.

A 1988 bumper reunion

It’s been 20 years since the Herzlia matric class of 1988 sat on the steps of the quad for our group photo (above). One of the biggest groups in history, there were some 200 students who matriculated that year. Twenty years on we’re getting together to celebrate this anniversary, to catch up with old classmates and to give back to the school that holds so many precious memories – through the Renew-A-Classroom campaign. The date has been set: 15 December 2008, 7:30pm at the Albow Centre in Hatfield Street, Cape Town. You have to be there! For more details on the reunion or to offer your help in organising, contact Tamara Kolevsohn on tamkolev@gmail.com or join the facebook group Herzlia Class of ’88 – 20 year reunion. It’s going to be a blast!
