Campus Overview

Sarah Bloch, our playschool and daycare centre, is open throughout the year except for public and Jewish holidays and at the end of the year for the summer holidays.  Sarah Bloch is situated on the grounds of the Vredehoek Sports Club providing a service to the Jewish Community and residents of the City Bowl and surrounds.

There are two separate programmes:

  1. An after-care facility providing afternoon and holiday care for children from Herzlia Primary and Pre-Primary Schools in the vicinity.
  2. A morning playgroup for toddlers of 2 - 3 ½ years old.

Our aftercare is a facility for pre-primary and primary school children. Transport is provided for the children after school. They are provided with a wholesome meal cooked on the premises. There is ample outdoor play space and homework supervision is available.  The chickens, rabbits and ducks are a part of the natural surroundings and wander amongst the children.

PLAYSCHOOL FOR TODDLERS:

Children are accepted from the age of two years old. They are gently eased into their new environment with support for parents and children to help them separate.

Our early learning programme places emphasis on skills and development:

  • Social skills (sharing, co-operating, delay of instant gratification, etc)
  • Language Development (vocabulary, enrichment, story-telling, etc)
  • Motor Development (climbing, movement, space, etc)
  • Small Motor Development (drawing, painting, clay, cutting, etc)
  • Concept Development (similarities and differences)
  • Emotional (self-esteem, confidence)

This is all achieved through a fun-filled manner that allows the child to develop independence.

The head of Sarah Bloch is Karen Lazar.
