Leora Raikin (MY 1987) was honoured at the California State Assembly in Sacramento. The State of California is the fifth largest economy and the state assembly is equivalent to the parliament of California. In April 2023, California Assembly member Laura Friedman, District 44, was proud to introduce Leora Raikin from the David Labkovski Project on the Assembly Floor for the creation of the David Labkovski Project. This is the highest award in the state of California. Leora and the David Labkovksi Project have been featured in a documentary that has won a Telly Award “Healing through Art” Watch it here. Darren Joseph (MY 2000) recently qualified as an adult pulmonologist. After matric he completed his undergraduate degree at UCT and has since worked in Gauteng, settling in Pretoria where he works in the academic sector. He specialised in internal medicine at the University of Pretoria and had been working as a specialist physician before completing his fellowship training in respiratory medicine, having done a lot of it during the COVID pandemic. Fun Fact: Darren’s mom, Lorraine Joseph, was a former principal of Herzlia Milnerton and a teacher for many years in the Herzlia system.
