Theo has officially arrived! Theo the Herzlia Hoopoe was officially announced at the UHS Annual General Meeting following a school-wide naming competition.
The response from pupils was fantastic, with many creative suggestions submitted from across our campuses. Three pupils independently proposed the winning name, Theo.
Mazaltov to our winners:
- Jessica (Grade 12)
- Georgia (Grade 7)
- Adir (Grade 11)
Theo takes his inspiration from the hoopoe bird featured in the Herzlia crest and has already become a familiar face at school events, assemblies and community celebrations. More than just a mascot, Theo represents the spirit of Herzlia bringing together pride, belonging, friendship and a sense of fun across our campuses.
Commenting on the announcement, Executive Director Andries van Renssen said: “A strong school community is built on shared experiences and traditions. Theo is a wonderful addition to Herzlia and reflects the enthusiasm, creativity and school spirit of our pupils. We look forward to seeing him become part of many memorable Herzlia moments in the years ahead.”
We are incredibly grateful to every pupil who took part in the competition. Your creativity made choosing a name both exciting and memorable.
Please join us in congratulating Jessica, Georgia and Adir and in giving a warm Herzlia welcome to the newest member of our community…
Theo the Herzlia Hoopoe!
