Herzlia Drama Shines at 2026 Eisteddfodau

At the Stellenbosch Drama Eisteddfod, Herzlia entered 70 pieces, with 25 receiving Cum Laude, 27 Gold Plus, 12 Gold, five Silver Plus and one Silver.

Three Herzlia pupils were also named prize winners:

  1. Best Drama Participant, Grade 11 Virtual
  2. Best Drama Participant, Grade 9 Virtual
  3. Best Drama Participant, Grade 12 Virtual

The excellent results continued at the Cape Town Drama Eisteddfod, where Herzlia entered 59 pieces. Of these, 18 received Cum Laude, 19 Gold, 17 Honours and five Merit awards.

Herzlia pupils were once again recognised among the top performers:

  • Top Achiever, Own Choice Poem 13–15
  • Top Achiever, Unprepared Reading and Set Poem 16–18
  • Top Achiever, Own Choice Poem 16–18
  • Top Achievers, Duologue 16–18
  • Top Achiever, Own Choice Poem 13–15, entered through Stagecraft Drama Studio

A special congratulations also goes to Mrs Jacqui Meskin, Subject Head of Dramatic Arts, who was awarded a medal at the Cape Town prizegiving in recognition of the consistently high standard and professionalism of Herzlia’s participants.

With schools and private drama studios from across the region taking part, these results speak not only to talent, but to the hours of preparation, confidence, courage and hard work that happen long before a pupil steps onto the stage.

Drama gives our pupils the chance to find their voice, take creative risks and grow in confidence and we are enormously proud of the way they represented Herzlia this year.

Mazaltov to every pupil who took part and to Jacqui and the Drama Department for another superb Eisteddfod season.
