Herzlia Weizmann Primary Gr 4 pupil Mason Stern is making all the right moves, both on and off the chessboard. Already crowned SA’s Under-10 Chess Champion, Mason has been invited to represent the country at three major international tournaments this year:
- World Cadets Chess Championship, Kazakhstan (September)
- Commonwealth Chess Championship, Malaysia (November)
- African Youth Chess Championship, Zimbabwe (December)
These prestigious invitations mark an extraordinary achievement for a young player whose focus, patience and strategic thinking have set him apart.
“Mason’s love for chess runs deep,” says Herzlia Weizmann Principal Anton Krupenia. “His dedication, commitment, and enthusiasm for the game set a fine example to all. We couldn’t be prouder!”
Balancing schoolwork with international competition is no small feat, but Mason’s teachers and family are working closely to support him as he continues to grow, one thoughtful move at a time.
Mazaltov, Mason! Your Herzlia family is cheering you on as you take your game, as well as your dreams, to the global stage.
