Depth, Consistency and Academic Strength
According to the 2025 SOS National Matric Report, Herzlia ranks among the top schools nationally when measured by distinctions per candidate, with particularly strong performance in Physical Sciences.
While national matric pass rates reached a new high in 2025, Herzlia’s results stand out for what they reveal about depth and consistency across the cohort. When performance is measured per learner rather than by total numbers alone, Herzlia places among the top schools nationally, indicating strong academic outcomes across the matric class as a whole.
Each year the SOS National Matric Report analyses Department of Basic Education results and considers school performance through more than one lens. Some rankings focus on the total number of distinctions achieved, which naturally favours very large schools. Others look at distinctions per candidate, a measure that provides a clearer picture of average academic performance and the strength of a cohort as a whole. It is on this measure that Herzlia performs particularly strongly.
A significant highlight of the 2025 results is Physical Sciences, where Herzlia ranks number one nationally on a distinctions-per-candidate basis. Physical Sciences remains one of the most demanding subjects in the National Senior Certificate, requiring strong conceptual understanding, disciplined preparation and confident problem solving. This result reflects sustained teaching excellence, consistent learner support and a culture that values subject mastery.
At Herzlia, matric results are never viewed in isolation. They are the outcome of years of structured learning, strong foundations built from the early grades and a commitment to supporting pupils throughout their school journey. Our focus remains on preparing pupils not only to succeed in final examinations, but to transition confidently into tertiary study and life beyond school.
The Class of 2025’s results tell a clear story. One of quality rather than scale, consistency rather than isolated achievement, and a learning environment where pupils are supported to perform at their best, individually and collectively.
| “WHY DO RANKINGS SOMETIMES LOOK DIFFERENT?”
School rankings can be measured in different ways. Some lists are based on the total number of distinctions achieved, which naturally favours very large schools with more candidates. Other measures look at distinctions per candidate, which adjusts for school size and provides a clearer picture of average academic performance per learner. Herzlia’s national ranking is based on this distinctions-per-candidate measure, highlighting depth and consistency across the matric cohort. |
